- Abby & Lee, Evil Toy, Monster, Null & Void, Void
“Spring is in the air, every where I look around..” (come on you know the tune right?) I have been spending time in my toy cavern creating more evil toys, this time Void. Void is the endearing, somewhat absent sidekick to Null the diabolical menace we met last blogpost.
I also did the obligatory last minute book week costume for my kids, and they didn’t disappoint in their choice. Last year it was Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy and the Hulk, the previous year Harry Potter and Hermionie Granger, this year…. Captain Kathryn Janeway and Commander Chakotay from the Starship Voyager. How my heart exploded with pride! Finally, they wanted to be Star Trek characters. However I, as all good parents are known to do, left ordering costumes until the 11th hour… “what do you mean you can’t express ship it here by tomorrow?” So I headed down to Kmart and cobbled together two Starfleet uniforms and prayed they would pass muster. It seems they were a hit and even Alphabite S was impressed…
Awaken the Toys got a mention in Handmade Connect’s list of “20 of the funniest handmade products on the internet”. Everyone was pretty excited, though Alphabite Z thought he should have been the feature toy and not Void, the other Alphabites told him to shove it, to which he proceeded to spend the rest of the day watching reruns of his greatest moments as Alphabite president and overlord. (what a cad)
Before I forget, guess what…
You can now use Afterpay at checkout when purchasing your toys! Just in time for the beginning of the Christmas present rush, and every toy comes with a birth certificate, their personal biographies and handy dandy Tooth Fairy pockets… what’s not to love? Also the August birthday month sale is still on so you know, snap up a toy… or two. If you’re looking for something a little smaller, Alpha-dangles will be available in the shop early next week and I will be working on some fun monster Christmas tree dangles too.
Ok, lets meet Void already.
Where there is Null, Void is not far behind. Void idolises Null. Growing up on planet Finite in the Bite Galaxy, his childhood was complicated by a variety of chronic illnesses dotted with broken bones after falling victim to many of Null’s nasty pranks. However, Void always knew that Null would stick around when others couldn’t be bothered waiting for him to get better from one illness or another.
Void is allergic to nuts, fish, dairy, gluten intolerant and gets nasty rashes from grass. He doesn’t let this get him down and has a fondness for llamas, giraffes and the giant tortoise.
He insists that he will be receiving his letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry any time now, and spends many an afternoon carving wands from tree branches and whispering a variety of spells from “wingardium leviosa” to “expelliarmus”.
Void is a yes man, and most of his sentences start with “yes”. Null takes advantage of this and will often get Void to do all the undesirable tasks, like taking out the garbage, washing Null’s dirty socks and milking Null’s pet donkey.
Even though he is technically evil, Void is too loveable to take seriously as a bad guy. Get your own Void here!
